Some Quick Tips To Reduce Distraction

Want to know a little secret?

I often suffer from SOS.

This deadly (🤣🤣🤣) disease of the online entrepreneur is also known by its full name, Shiny Object Syndrome, and it runs rampant through our community.

Here’s what my desk looks like when I’m not careful:

Pieces of paper with half-written notes everywhere including on the floor

Colourful post-it notes on the wall beside me
 .
A stack of books and journals

2 pens, 4 highlighters and 5 brightly coloured gel pens

10 tabs open on my computer (including Facebook, Pinterest, my calendar and 3 documents I’m trying to write at the same time!) 💻
 .
4 empty cups 🥤
My phone vibrating and pinging constantly ☎

Can you relate? Or is it just me????

I love working on my business AND I have to be careful about how I manage my mind, and my time.

Because, if I allow it, I can spend an entire day distracted, flitting from one task to another and getting very little accomplished.

In other words, I can feel busy but not productive or satisfied

So, what do I do instead?

I plan and then I do.

I know this sounds simple and it is.

Remember simple does not mean it’s easy.

I plan my week, then I plan my days. Each day I choose 3 top priorities to move me closer to my goals.

The planning is the easy part. It’s more difficult to do what you say you are going to do!

For me, it helps to eliminate as many distractions as possible.  Here are some ideas to get you started:

-Put your phone on the other side of the room and turn sounds/notifications off

-Delete social media apps from your phone

-Keep a printed copy of the day’s agenda close so you stay on track

-Close the extra tabs on your computer (so you can’t check something quickly)

-Turn off all reminders on your computer
