Honey, what are you doing?

Earthing is when you walk on soil, grass or sand. Studies show there are many health benefits when you are more connected with nature.

“Candy, what are you doing???? Why aren’t you wearing the shoes I got you?”

I can just hear him now. This is what my husband often asks me when I walk back in the house from my she shed, which is my office.

Maybe I should rewind. In case you didn’t know I work in my little ‘’she shed in the backyard.  Here’s a photo so you can see what it looks like.

Yes, it’s cute as a button and yes, I love it!

But let’s get back to his question because it might help you too.

I love to walk barefoot out in the grass and I do it whenever possible. Since I live on the “wet” coast and we don’t often get snow that means I do this most mornings.

And even though my feet get cold, I believe that walking barefoot on the earth is good for me and it might be good for you too.

There is a name for this, it’s called “earthing”. Earthing is when you walk on soil, grass or sand. Studies show there are many health benefits when you are more connected with nature.

Here are some of the list of benefits:

  • Better sleep
  • Improved health
  • Improved mood
  • Lower stress
  • Improved cardiovascular health

Since our feet contain acupressure points it entirely makes sense that there would be some benefits.

Now I’m not sure if all these claims are true, but what I can tell you is that I notice a difference when I spend a little bit of time every day barefoot in nature. I feel better, more creative and more grounded.

I’m curious, why don’t you give it a try and tell me what you notice too?
