How to Build a Coaching Business Aligned with Your Unique Design

I have been looking for a conversation like this one for a while. My guest was VerDarLuz, a visionary business coach, author, world traveler, and creator of the Divine Timing Online School. VerDarLuz blends evolutionary astrology, human design, and shamanic wisdom in a way that is genuinely practical and deeply individual, and by the end of our conversation, I had a completely new way of thinking about what it means to build a business that truly fits you.

The thread running through everything VerDarLuz shared is this: most coaches are building their businesses using someone else's blueprint. Someone else's strategy, someone else's timing, someone else's model. And that is why so much of it feels like pushing uphill. When you understand your own design, the tools that VerDarLuz uses become not just interesting but genuinely useful for making better decisions.

What Locational Astrology Can Tell You About Where to Build

One of the most fascinating things VerDarLuz introduced me to is astrocartography, also known as locational astrology. The idea is that your astrological chart does not just apply to you as a person. It also maps onto locations around the world, and different places will amplify different qualities and intentions depending on which planets are strongest there for you.

He has used this tool to guide where he lives, where he runs retreats, and where he builds client relationships. He described leading retreats in Warsaw, a city he was never drawn to intuitively, but one that turned out to be consistently successful for him based on the locational chart. He is currently living and working in Panama because the energy there supports the kind of growth and abundance he is intending right now.

For coaches who are considering running retreats, relocating, or expanding internationally, this is a genuinely different way to think about the question of where. Rather than going where it is trendy or convenient, he  uses the chart to identify where a specific intention will be most supported. Planning a retreat? Look for strong Jupiter or Venus energy in that location for that time period. Want stability and growth? Probably not the season or location with a strong Uranus transit running.

Human Design as Your Business Blueprint

VerDarLuz has been working with astrology for years and came to human design somewhat skeptically because of its more recent origins. But when he sat with his first reading, something shifted. He described it as seeing himself through a different filter, one that confirmed things he already knew about himself but gave him a precise vocabulary for it.

In human design, your energy type determines how you are designed to interact with the world and with your work. VerDarLuz is a Projector, which means he is built for advising and guiding rather than initiating or sustaining the kind of consistent high output that generators can access. Generators and manifesting generators, who make up the majority of people, have consistent sustainable energy but tend to burn out badly when they are following someone else's strategy or passion rather than their own genuine response.

The practical application for coaches is significant. Your human design can tell you not just who you are but how to structure your business. Should you be doing one-on-one work or group programs? Does a high-volume content strategy suit your design or drain you? Is the way you are currently showing up in your marketing aligned with how people actually experience you? VerDarLuz uses both the astrology and the human design chart together to answer these questions in a way that is specific to each person.

Your Rising Sign Is Your Brand

One piece from our conversation that I want coaches to sit with: VerDarLuz made the point that in astrology, your rising sign, not your sun sign, is the face you show the world every day. It is how people perceive you before they know anything else about you. And it is one of the most underused tools in brand development.

A Gemini rising brings a naturally playful, multi-faceted, youthful energy to how someone is perceived. A Capricorn rising brings gravitas, reliability, and quiet authority. These are not things you need to manufacture. They are already there. But when your brand and your marketing are in conflict with your rising sign energy, something always feels slightly off, both to you and to the people you are trying to reach.

The larger point he is making, and one that I deeply agree with, is that we are in a new era of business. One where coaches, healers, and entrepreneurs are building things that actually fit their lives rather than modeling themselves on whatever strategy was loudest in the room.
