The 5 Steps to Get Your First Premium Coaching Client (Without the Overwhelm) Ep 292

You don’t need 40 hours a week to build a coaching business. You just need the right plan—and a little heart.

If you’re a new coach trying to figure out how to land your first premium client (without quitting your job or working late into the night), this is for you.

You’ve got a full life—work, family, caregiving, a million to-dos. And building a coaching business on top of that can feel overwhelming.

But it doesn’t have to be.
You can start coaching now—without the hustle.

Here’s the exact 5-step method I teach inside my programs to help new coaches go from “thinking about it” to signing their first premium client… in as little as 30 days.

Let’s dive in.

Step 1: Decide What “First Client” Means to You

Get clear on what you’re actually aiming for.

When I say “first client,” I don’t mean your friend doing you a favor or a freebie session. I mean a real, paying, premium client—someone who sees the value in what you do.

Define it:

  • What are you offering?
  • Who is it for?
  • What result do you help them create?
  • What’s the price?

Clarity here eliminates confusion—and helps you take aligned action that actually moves you forward.

Step 2: Create a Simple 5x5 Offer

Don’t overthink your first offer. You don’t need a fancy website or three different packages.

Start with a 5x5:

  • 5 clients
  • 5 sessions each
  • One clear outcome
  • A price that feels aligned

This gives you real-world coaching experience, builds your confidence, and helps you refine your message—fast.

And trust me: Real coaching > more certifications when it comes to growing your business.

Step 3: Block 10 Intentional Hours Per Week

You don’t need 30+ hours a week. You need 10 focused hours.

Here’s how to use them:

  • 5 hours for coaching sessions (once booked)
  • 5 hours for visibility, outreach, and business-building

Even if you don’t have clients yet, start protecting that time. Use it to connect, post content, practice coaching, and make offers.

When you carve out dedicated hours, your business stops being “someday” and starts being real.

Step 4: Connect with Real Humans (Not Campaigns)

You don’t need funnels, logos, or perfect branding.

You need conversations.

Start here:

  • Make a list of 20 people you know—friends, colleagues, people who might know someone who could benefit from coaching.
  • Send a genuine message. Ask how they’re doing.
  • Mention you’re coaching now and that you’d love to help.

No scripts. No pressure. Just connection and heart.

Because people don’t buy “coaching.”
They buy trust, clarity, and possibility.

Step 5: Invite People to Work With You

You’ve started the conversations. Now it’s time to make the offer.

You don’t need to sound like a salesperson. Just be real.

Try this:

“I have a few spots open for coaching. If you’ve been feeling stuck and want support, I’d love to talk.”

That’s it.

Making the offer is the service. Don’t withhold help from someone who needs it just because you’re afraid of being sales-y.

When you lead with heart and make clear invitations, you’ll be surprised how many people say yes.
