Episode 123: How To Get Much More Accomplished
Hi, I’m so glad you’re here!. This is another podcast episode that I’m recording in Mexico. I decided that it would be so much fun to batch a bunch of podcast episodes and that’s just one of the reasons I signed up to attend a work-cation with a group of other amazing podcasters.
As I write this episode there are so many sounds…there’s a dog barking, a cat meowing close by, a car horn honking, construction people joking and laughing and three different songs playing at the same time - One is from a car driving by, one from the construction site and I have no idea where the third one is coming from all I know is that there is a tuba-no less… Who knows if you’ll hear any of it on the recording…this is a very different atmosphere than my quiet little she shed, and that’s a good thing. A new environment, a different perspective….the sounds of life!
So before we dive in to today’s episode I want to invite you to join my community, if you haven’t signed up for any of my free resources or Free Coach’s Toolkit I have to say – well it’s time you did!

Now let’s dive in.
I want to talk to you about something I see a lot…ok honestly something that I experience a lot of too.
I’m productive – I get a ton of things done for my business. From time to time I look at all the blog posts, programs, podcast episodes and valuable assets I’ve built for my business and I’m amazed – looking back I’m amazed.
But it wasn’t always easy, so let me share some thoughts and an approach you can use too.
It’s summed up in this quote
You can do everything but you can’t do it all at once.
How does that sound? Are you an amazing font of creative ideas. Do you have a whole host of projects started but not completed?
Maybe you have this great idea…and you start on it…but you forgot you were working on the great idea you had last week. So in the end you have amazing inspired incredible ideas but you got that dopamine hit of inspiration and start….only problem? Few of them are completed, so no one (including you) gets the benefit of these ideas.
Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter and hormone. It plays a role in many important body functions, including pleasurable reward and motivation – in a word it feels good!
And we forget that we get the dopamine reward when we come up with the idea and are all excited but we also get a major reward when we complete and accomplish something that’s important. So finishing some of those UFOs is going to be rewarding too!
It can go too far right? I’ve heard of coaches with dozens of ufos (unfinished objects). Inspiration is exciting don’t get me wrong I like it too. Most of my inspirations lands in my brain when I first wake up or during my morning meditation.
And I agree it’s important to honor the inspiration. It’s like an manual water pump – one you’d see the farm, you prime the pump by pumping the handle and it takes some muscles to get the water flowing, but once it does watch out! You won’t be able to stop it – it just keeps flowing, and eventually your bucket or container overflows too.
So yes, inspiration is good. But we can only work on one thing at a time. Here’s an approach that I use.
The approach I call it my treasure journal. I have a journal where I write down all the ideas I have. Lists and lists, and sometimes the same idea comes up more than once. But I choose only one to work on at a time.
I know there are those among you, especially the neurodivergent who this approach may not work for. But listen anyway because you know yourself best and I bet you can take this approach and modify it for your style.
Then I honor the ideas and they keep flowing and I choose one to work on at a time. When I limit myself to only one I learn to choose wisely. What’s the one idea or project that will help my client best? What will help my business? What helps me move closer to my goals? What helps me grow?
Once I decide – that’s it! I don’t look back….now I get it, this is not easy but it’s worth it.
Inspiration – decision – execution….that’s my path
And I believe I get more done, more accomplished with this approach. And that is satisfying!
Excellent – now I want to hear from you.
What did you learn from this episode? Will you try this approach
Write down your inspiration – then decide – then do it….stick with it – complete it and experience the satisfying joy of accomplishment? I hope so

Now if you want even more help, maybe you’ve had enough of trying to figure it all out on your own or taking hours and hours piecing together a solution by going to the googles or watching YouTube videos. Then we should talk about how we can work together.
