Are Vision Boards Flaky Or Too Woo Woo?
Here Are Some Of The Ways Using a Vision Board Is A Practical Approach To Reach Your Goals
One of the best tools to help you reach your goals is a vision board.
You can either read this post or watch the video below where I tell you all about it.
My current favourite are digital vision boards, they are fun, versatile and can be easy to make. I create one vision board for one goal or topic. It helps me to stay super-specific and take focussed action.
Dreaming on its own doesn’t make your goals come true, you’ve got to take action. I create and use vision boards in a very specific way to get momentum. I've written a bunch of different posts to show you how to create a vision board (or dream board as some call it), to make your life easier I've gathered all the links on this page here >>> more vision board articles
Some people worry that creating a vision board is flaky, that it’s too woo-woo for them and it makes them uncomfortable. If that’s you, I get it, I used to feel that way too…but what I found was surprising.
Vision boards are one of the most practical ways to set and achieve your goals and to propel you to a more fulfilling, enjoyable, fun, abundant and prosperous life. I get it! This sounds too good to be true. Right?
Well, let me explain.
You’re probably super busy, and you have a vague idea of what you want. But, and here’s one important point, vague ideas don’t come with detailed action plans, they come with random thoughts that surface when you’re lying awake at 3 in the morning.
Creating a vision board means that first, you take dedicated time out of your busy and distracted day to really think about your life, priorities, values and get clear on what you want. This means when you choose a goal, it’s in alignment with your authentic nature. And this goal is just like the bullseye on a target. A specific spot that you want to reach
Next, you take time to get clear on what your life will be like when you reach that goal.
How will you feel, what will your day to day life be like? This will evoke emotions. Emotions like calm and centred, empowered, enthusiastic, energized. These are the feelings you can use to take inspired action.
The more action you take from a place of enthusiasm and inspiration the faster you will move in the direction of your goal. In practical terms, this means you are working towards creating the results you want.
For example, maybe you’ve always wanted to take a month off to travel to Spain and stay in a gorgeous apartment close to the ocean.
Now, what happens when you think about this goal?
You start to get energized and excited. Then you think…well, maybe I should look for apartments to rent in towns that are close to the ocean. I wonder how much one would cost? What towns would be best? Where is the best weather? As you keep going and you will soon have done a bunch of research and started making a budget for your trip
Next, you might crave that relaxed and restful feeling of your time away. This might motivate you to work a little bit more and make a bit more money to save for your trip.
Now since you’ve been looking up photos and tips about travelling to Spain your local airlines start to email you about great deals on airfare
And boom before you know it…you’ve booked your flight and time off from work.
Pretty soon you will be sitting on the verandah in Spain looking at the view of the ocean.
Not surprisingly, you made that dream come true!
I know that not all goals and dreams are so linear, but I wanted you to see how you could take your dream, create a vision board and use it as fuel to create the life of your dreams.
Now if all this sounds great, but you're still not sure where to start, I'd like to invite you to join my workshop, that shows you exactly how to create a powerful vision board. It's a recording of a 2-hour live workshop I did a few weeks ago. Here's the link.
